The UBB of New Jersey prepared our yearly food-fest brunch as customary at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center. The UBB fed 135 juveniles within the facility (130 young men and five young ladies), along with 38 Officers and 32 civilian staff members. With joy, there was also a distribution of Bibles and books of faith given to the staff and detainees.

What a privilege, the UBB team of Jew Jersey was rewarded with a letter of appreciation by the Director of Essex County Juvenile Detention Center. Once again, earlier this year, the pastors and volunteers of the UBB in NJ, along with the Essex County Juvenile Detention staff, were able to come together and have a hygiene distribution, along with food, to the homeless. A total of 415 people were served. We gave shampoo, deodorant, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, masks, sanitizers, soup, can goods, cereal, fruits, juice, etc.

On June 13th, 2023, our presence was requested for the Juvenile Detention Center for the High school graduation. We promptly accepted and provided food for the graduates, their families, officers, Administrative personnel, and civilians. We were very excited about the opportunity to enter the prison after being shut down for over two years due to covid.

The reception was held on the 3rd-floor deck under the guidance of the Warden, Coordinator Ms. Weathers, Officers, staff, and teachers. We prepared meals for 220. Ten graduates and their families. One hundred thirty-eight detainees in the house. Meals were delivered to the various floors, including fifty-two officers, staff, and civilians.

We opened with a prayer conducted by Pastor Marcos (Orange, NJ). Pastor Marcos and the UBB volunteers served the food. It is an excellent opportunity to serve God, and in the UBB, we give all the honor and glory to God for giving us this chance.

For the Lord hears the needy,
And does not despise those of His who are prisoners.
