On March 28th, 2024, the UBB visited the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital for the first time. There, the UBB had the privilege of sitting down with Chaplin Debra Phillips to speak about the importance of this voluntary work the UBB is doing.
We had the privilege of touring the hospital. This experience gave us a deeper understanding of what many inmates are going through and what we can do to help.
The UBB had the opportunity to pray for approximately 300 inmates, and there is a great need here. Chaplain Phillips stated, “Bibles are needed as the inmates are thirsty for God’s word and supplies for the patients; very few have been able to donate to us. They want people to come and minister the gospel; every day, we have about 300-400 inmates at Galveston Hospital.”
The UBB thanks Chaplain Phillips because she has blessed us by allowing us to start a program of prayers, music, encouragement, and ministering of healing and salvation. We had the opportunity to pray for some who were at the edge of death, and they had that opportunity to surrender their lives to God.
A message from Chaplin Debra Phillips to the Sponsors: “The sponsorship of the Bibles is significant as many are transitioning; they want to know God, and receiving the word has been a blessing for them. These commentary Bibles have helped better understand what the Scripture is saying and give each one a deeper look into the word of God.”
This is the joy of the UBB: giving freely what we have received. The work doesn’t stop, and we continue to do what the Lord has called us to do. Are you down with the UBB?
