Has anyone ever asked you this question before? Who is the owner of the soul? There is only one answer. Many say God owns the soul, while others say the devil owns mine.

We are our soul’s owner, which goes together with free will. Let’s break it down: The human being comprises three parts: Body, soul, and spirit. Each has a place to return to at the end of this life.

The Body (external) – our flesh will return to the dust. Where it came from, we were made from the earth. Chapter two of the book of Genesis says, “the Lord formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.”

It explains that our bodies belong to the earth and will return to the earth. “then the dust [out of which God made man’s Body] will return to the earth as it was (…) Ecclesiastes 12:7.

The Spirit (mind) – when God created man, He lent us the power to think; for this reason, without the mind, a person, although breathing, may be in a vegetative state. Why?

Because when the mind stops operating, it causes everything else to stop functioning as well, even with a working heart; when a person’s mind does not function, they cannot do anything.

The word says, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:7. Now you see, the spirit belongs to God, the Body belongs to the earth, now who does the soul belong to?

The Soul (heart) is where we feel; desires and wants stem from it, as do bad and good choices. If we are not careful, it can be a place of deceit, and the word says that the heart is deceitful.

Remember, the soul belongs to you. God gave us dominion over our souls back to the free will I mentioned above. We have the choice to do what we want with the soul that we have.

If you say to yourself you want to take God seriously, but it has seemed challenging, have you tried the sincere approach? Asking God to give you the strength?

What does God want us to do with our souls? Surrender it to Him. God cannot decide what you must do; the ball is in your court to decide. It does not mean you need to do it alone, however.

Letting Him know that you need His help? God gave us free will, but it doesn’t mean He won’t be there when you call upon Him for help. You need to decide: continue living a life of hell or surrender to receive a new life.
