At the beginning of September, the UBB held another impactful event at the Stringfellow Unit—a Day of Power and Self-Reflection. The participants explored the theme of forgiveness and had the opportunity to look deep within themselves.
SAFPF stands for Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility, and SAFPF Camp is an integral part of this program. During the event, we faced several challenges but conducted the service in faith to bless the 39 men who attended. They learned valuable lessons about letting go of the past and no longer allowing it to define them.
Initially, the men were reluctant to participate. However, as the service progressed, they warmed up in faith and left feeling blessed. A total of 36 men attended, and by the end, the majority shared testimonies about how the service impacted them. They expressed eagerness for future events.
The service was truly a blessing, and the men were very grateful for the donated books, particularly The Pleasure of Revenge. One inmate shared how he had transformed since the last service day when prayer was offered for those struggling with unforgiveness or hatred. Today, he is a changed person, and those around him have noticed the difference. Another fellow inmate testified to the positive change observed in him since that day.
Throughout all the services, Bishop Joshua delivered a powerful message about being chosen, referencing 1 Corinthians 1:27-28: “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are.”
The bishop prayed for the men to experience a turnaround in their lives and dedicated time to seeking the Holy Spirit together.
